I am a DPhil student in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (Islamic Art and Architecture) at New College. My DPhil project looks at architectural history within the social and political context of the Timurid and Shïbanid periods in early modern Mawarannahr, for which I primarily work with sources in Persian, Chaghatay, and (increasingly rarely) in Ottoman.
Before beginning my DPhil, I read for an MPhil in Islamic Art and Architecture as an Ertegun Scholar, also at Oxford. My MPhil thesis examined the Shïbanid-era complex of Char Bakr in Bukhara, present-day Uzbekistan and was titled "Naqshbandi Religio-Politics in Māwarāʾ al-Nahr: The Char Bakr Shrine of Bukhara". I hold a B.A. (Hons) in History from Ashoka University in India.
